These shoes will be "up cycled" to bring water systems to remote villages in Kenya through Shoes 4 Water. Sandlapper has inspired several other schools in Richland Two to create their own Shoes 4 Water campaign. Wouldn't it be wonderful if there was a district wide Shoes 4 Water competition next year???? Cans for Conservation Project
The 4th grade Project Based Learning students are doing an amazing job with this project! They have researched the desert, polar, rainforest, swamps, and rivers and streams ecosystems! Students chose an ecosystem to focus on for their project. Students interviewed experts within their ecosystem by participating in conference calls and skyping!! It was awesome! Students are making public service announcements about their ecosystems to show on the morning show to persuade others in the school to bring cans in to recycle for their ecosystem. The ecosystem that collects the most cans will be able to donate the profits from recycling the cans to a conservation group in their ecosystem! Students are designing boxes to collect the cans. The boxes are decorated like their ecosystem!
